I began bear making in 1986 at my kitchen table in England. I soon grew to love making miniature animals and taught and lectured on the subject in England, USA, Japan and Germany. I became the main designer for the `Little Gem Company` in the early 90`s and also designed big bears for `Teddy Hermann Original` in Germany.

In 1996 my husband and I and our two young sons, dalmatian dog and cat moved to Sarasota, Florida where I began `Deb Canham Artist Designs Inc`. My aim was to produce very high quality, fully jointed miniature mohair bears and animals in small numbered limited editions. Since my company began I have gone on to add to the bears with the `Dappled Dragon Collection`,and the `Mini Mices` and a variety of other animals. I have also produced larger mohair bears.

In the last few years I have added an affordable velvet line of animals which I have named `Deb`s Little Gems` in a salute to the company that I used to design for which no longer trades. I have also introduced a very popular dollshouse line including bears, mice, dragons, elephants and cats....and monkeys.
Occasionally, I treat myself to making some original studio pieces. I still enjoy to teach bear making and lecture on the bear industry and my fun exploits as an Entrepreneur moving to America which I titled `Herding Cats`.....no other title seemed to cover my life`s journey quite as well. It has all been tremendously fun.
